IPL / Photorejuvenation / Photofacials

IPL is shorthand for Intense Pulsed Light. IPL is primarily used to blend and even-out the coloration of the skin.

IPL removes Age-spots, Freckles, Red-spots, Small Veins, Small Moles, Birth Marks, and just about any kind of "spot" on the skin's surface. It is also one of the best ways to reduce large pores.

Just as it sounds, a very bright light is "flashed" onto the treatment area. Patients feel a pleasant warmth, followed by a slight sting or snap. Cold gel is applied first - and our cold air blower is used during the procedure in order to minimize any discomfort.

Following treatment, the skin may be slightly pink for a few minutes. Enhancements Mineral Makeup, specially formulated for use after procedures, can be applied immediately following the treatment, if desired. Our office staff, in Bethlehem Township, PA, will be glad to help you.

A very nice side effect of IPL therapy is improved skin-tone, with a small degree of skin-tightening. The Naturalight System used at Enhancements requires from one to several treatments, depending on the type and severity of the problem. IPL can only be used on light skin.

Although it is possible to use an IPL for hair or vein removal, Dr. Sackman usually prefers to use the more effective Enhancements laser technology to treat unwanted hair and veins.
